Domina_01_Overview

The Domina was one of the first organisms discovered as a part of the Tyranid Prime Fleets. Imperial forces had come to fear the massive Dominatrix bioform, and the first Dominas were thought to be a new, smaller strain of this terrifying beast. That was only part of the truth, however. Showing traits from both the Dominatrix and the Tervigon, the Dominas are seen much more frequently than their larger siblings, bringing their destructive horror to countless more worlds. Their massive bio-cannons can pummel anything unfortunate enough to catch the attention of the Domina’s upper half, while the strength of the talons provide the lower half with an equally destructive capability. All the while the Domina can litter the field of battle with egg sacs from which lesser bioforms can spawn.

Hive Mother: The Domina counts as an HQ choice and is always the Warlord when taken in a Tyranid army. It has a synapse range of 18″.

Do not roll on the Tyranid Warlord Traits table. Instead, roll a d3:

1: Dominant Synapse: The synapse range of the Domina is extended by 6″. The range of Shadow in the Warp for the Domina is equal to the synapse range.
2: Eternal Bodyguards: Tyranid Warrior units from the primary detachment within synapse range of the Domina gain Eternal Warrior. Hive Guard units from the primary detachment within synapse range of the Domina gain Feel No Pain (5+).
3: Shadow of the Devourer: All Leadership tests (including psychic tests) taken by non-Tyranid units within synapse range of the Domina must be taken on 3d6.

Will of the Hive Mind: Whenever a friendly unit from Codex: Tyranids uses a psychic power while within synapse range of the Domina, choose one:

  • Unit automatically passes its psychic test.
  • Unit’s psychic power cannot be nullified, either by another unit’s ability, psychic power, or Deny the Witch roll.

Fused Creature: The Tyranid Domina is made up of two distinct creatures that have been fused together into a single grotesque body. The Domina can still shoot when engaged in an assault. When a Domina has 5 wounds remaining, roll a d6:

1-2: The Command beast is killed. Reduce the maximum possible Wounds to 5. The Domina can no longer use psychic powers, shoot, and its synapse range is reduced to 12″ for the rest of the game. Do not roll on this table again for the rest of the game.
3-5: The Mount beast is killed. Reduce the maximum possible Wounds to 5. The Domina can no longer run or assault, and its movement is reduced to 6″ for the rest of the game. Do not roll on this table again for the rest of the game.
6: Neither beast is killed. Roll a d6 on this table immediately after the next wound is taken.

Spawn Egg Clusters: At the end of your Movement phase, a Domina can spawn Egg Clusters, even if it is locked in close combat. Place an Egg Cluster on the table so that it is wholly within 6” of the Domina. This new unit cannot be placed in impassable terrain or within 1” of enemy models. If you cannot place the Egg Cluster due to restrictions above or because you have run out of Egg Cluster models, the excess is discarded.

Up to 3 Egg Clusters can be placed per turn. Up to 6 Egg Clusters total can be placed per game.

PSYCHIC POWERS:

The Domina always knows the Cataclysmic Hunger psychic power. The Domina can generate 2 additional powers from the Powers of the Hive Mind.

CATACLYSMIC HUNGER
Warp Charge 3
Cataclysmic Hunter is a witchfire power. For every unit destroyed by Cataclysmic Hunger, roll 1d6. On a result of 5+, the Domina can regain a single Wound, up to the maximum possible Wounds.

Unit Type: Infantry

SPECIAL RULES:

Incubators: The Egg Clusters cannot move, shoot, run, or assault. They are non-scoring, non-denial units. They do not award Victory Points when destroyed, and Wounds suffered by Egg Clusters in close combat are not counted when determining assault results.

At the beginning of the movement phase after which the Egg Cluster was placed, choose one:

Spawn Warriors: Roll 1d6 – this is the number of models spawned. Place the new unit of Tyranid Warriors on the table so that it is wholly within 6″ of the Egg Cluster. Models in this new unit cannot be placed in impassable terrain or within 1″ of enemy models. If you cannot place some of the models due to restrictions above, or because you have run out of Tyranid Warrior models, the excess is discarded.

The spawned unit can move, shoot, and charge as normal. A unit spawned by an Egg Cluster is identical in every way to a Tyranid Warrior unit chosen from the Troops section of the army list, and is treated as such for all mission special rules. Models in a spawned unit are armed with Devourers and Scything talons and may not purchase options.

Remove the Egg Cluster after spawning.

Spawn Hive Guard: Roll 1d3 – this is the number of models spawned. Place the new unit of Hive Guard on the table so that it is wholly within 6″ of the Egg Cluster. Models in this new unit cannot be placed in impassable terrain or within 1″ of enemy models. If you cannot place some of the models due to restrictions above, or because you have run out of Hive Guard models, the excess is discarded.

The spawned unit can move, shoot, and charge as normal. A unit spawned by an Egg Cluster is identical in every way to a Hive Guard unit chosen from the Elites section of the army list, and is treated as such for all mission special rules. Models in a spawned unit are armed with Impaler cannons and may not purchase options.

Remove the Egg Cluster after spawning.
